grain of truth #1 - humility rules

"This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word." Isaiah 66:2

if spirituality is like clothing, then humility is our underwear. it's really the first thing you put on, and it just doesn't feel right if you're not wearing it (for most of us that is). when we are humble we are in a better position to see truth. when we are humble, God esteems us.

i find that i can be really humble in my mind....but when i get around other people it doesn't always work out. i get defensive, i take offense, i'm selfish and impatient....you get the picture.

with all my failings in humililty, i still believe it is the most important spiritual clothes we wear. so i just (humbly) confess my shortfalls to the Lord and keep on going, trying to do better next time.. ..with humility, there is always room for improvement.

i welcome your comments!!!!!

I agree that humility is the beginning of experiencing a relationship with Christ. The times when I am closest to God are when I realize that I can not do or succeed on my own. Its not that same as bad talking one self.. but simply admitting that He is the only way through this life.

Welcome Faithful Girl!!! It's so good to hear from you. I so agree with you that humility is not the same as bad talking one self. As Christ said "the last shall be first". I look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi “Ruth”;

Welcome to the world of blogging sister; one of my most faithful readers, as I will be one of yours.

This passage of Scripture is a great one to start out with; it can help us be grounded in our everyday life. I love the example of Jesus in His humility as described in Philippians 2; what a wonderful model for us to emulate.

I enjoyed how you spoke of our “spiritual clothing”; giving physicality aids us in seeing application.

Would you be amenable to trading links on each others blogs?

If you have any questions in your blog development I would be happy to help out, just email me, my email address is on my blog, top left side, for that matter you know I ‘m in the book just phone.

You made my day!

Well it didn't take you very long to find me Livingsword. It's good to have you stop by.
I would love to swap links with you but I have no idea how. You are right, I will be needing advice to jazz things up like you do. However, it was surprisingly easy to get started.
Yes I do love U2, mostly Joshua Tree and before. I went to the Joshua Tree concert and it was one of the most spritual experiences of my life. Were you there?? Circa 1988 or so?

Hi Max,

Thanks for your encouraging words... I'm glad you stopped by. I appreciated your honest questions and comments at Life On The Blade about religion. I hope that this blog will generate some quality discussions about spiritual truth. I welcome your contributions in the future.

Hi Ruth;

When Joshua Tree was out I was not a follower of Jesus and thought Bono and U2 were a bunch of hippy want to be’s.

Now I love them, as far as I am concerned they are the best Jesus following band in the world, or just best band bar none. I would love to have U2 for Sunday morning worship!

I’m surprised you could figure out what I said with all my typos!

If you would like when I get back later in Sept you could come over and I could give you a “blog crash course”, it would only take a couple of hours, once you know a bit it is quite easy to get to the next level. It would have been great to have somebody help me out like that so I am happy to help you out (although I have to say the blogging community can be quite helpful, plus Blogger help is ok.) Of course you could go by Butterfly’s. Email me your thoughts.
